PLANNING FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS

USD 303 SCHOOL BOND

Our students need facilities that are safe and secure, equipped for learning, and energy-efficient to set them up for success.

After months of careful consideration, the USD 303 Community Committee has developed a facilities bond proposal aimed at addressed significant needs of our current buildings.  The proposal created in collaboration with Hutchinson-based Landmark Architects and Wiens & Company Construction, focuses on “future-proofing” the district’s facilities—making them easier to maintain, more conducive to learning, and safer for students and staff.

In a special election on May 6th voters will be asked to consider the following question for improving USD 303 facilities:

Question: Shall we approve a school bond issue in the amount not to exceed $24 million?

KEY DOCUMENTS

WHY IS THIS SCHOOL BOND PROJECT NECESSARY?

Education is constantly evolving, and the strength of our community depends on the quality of our schools. To prepare for the future, we must invest in long-term improvements that ensure safe, modern, and functional learning environments. This means addressing essential needs such as roof repairs, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, classrooms, and locker rooms. These upgrades aren’t just about fixing buildings—they’re a crucial investment in our students, teachers, and the future of our community.

WHY NOW?

There’s never an ideal time to request funding for

capital improvements, but USD 303 hasn’t undergone major building updates since 1987. This proposal ensures the district stays on track by addressing current needs while preparing for the future. With rising construction costs and ongoing maintenance challenges, we believe now is the time to take action.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

Developed in partnership with Landmark Architects and Wiens & Company Construction, this proposal is designed to “future-proof” the district’s facilities—making them easier to maintain, more conducive to learning, and safer for students and staff. The plan includes critical infrastructure and safety and security upgrades for both the grade school and high school. In addition to addressing the immediate needs of the school district, this project also provide facilities that will serve not only our current students, but the next two generations to come as well.
